Winter Fun
Living here on the West Coast of Canada we don’t always get to experience winter. We are all too familiar with the rain but every now and again we get a little taste of the white stuff. The past week has been incredibly cold with the frigid temperatures dipping down to negative 34 with the wind chill. Man, is that ever cold! Growing up in the Eastern part of Canada winter was one of my most favourite seasons especially because of hockey and snow castles. With the snow we have experienced lately it has brought up a lot of childhood memories and it has allowed me to take two of my three kids outside and build snowmen and snow castles. Here are a few recent pics of the kids playing outdoors.
River Tov Sabourin
Almost 6 months ago, River came into our lives. One day I will share the story of River as he is truly a miracle, but for now I thought I would share a few photos of River Tov Sabourin. I must admit, this is one cool kid – oh yeah, he’s pretty cute too!
River has an older sister and brother – Nola & Memphis
Christmas Isn’t Fun For Everyone!
There I said it! Let’s be honest, for most people Christmas is a difficult time of year. Granted, there are many out there who may not be able to grasp this reality but the truth of the matter is, for some, Christmas sucks! Now there are all sorts of reasons as to why some may struggle with celebrating Christmas; some have no money to spend on gifts and some don’t even have a place to call home for the holidays. For some, Christmas brings back a lot of childhood memories that they would soon like to forget. Whatever the reasons are, Christmas can be tough. Throughout this holiday season I dare you to be on the lookout for someone who may be having a hard time with Christmas and be a blessing to them.

Week One
Well, I did it! I actually stuck to the plan. Last week I began a 40 Day Challenge, which isn’t just a 40 Day Challenge, but more of a lifestyle change for me. It all started when I tried to fit into a Hugo Boss suit my wife bought for my birthday a couple of years ago and now I cannot fit into it.
Huston, we have a problem.
After my first week of changing my food intake and even portion sizes, I feel so much better. I have more energy and I don’t feel gross anymore. Now I know it is just the first week, but honestly, I am committed to this process. I am excited to see change as I know I need it. So far, I have lost 5 pounds just changing my food intake.
Tonight, I am beginning my first work out (I hate work outs) at the gym. Nothing major, just something to get the blood pumping. I have also decided to play hockey once a week which I am passionate about so it should be easy to stay motivated this way.
Stay tuned.
I plan on updating my progress on a weekly basis and I might even share a picture or two. 40 Days from now I am going to look a little different, but most importantly, I am going to feel a whole lot different!
40 Day Challenge
You were born by His purpose and for His purpose!
Have you ever gone into your closet and pulled out an article of clothing to put on only to find out that it doesn’t fit you any longer? What about the mirror? When was the last time you looked in the mirror and realized things needed to change? For me, change began yesterday. This isn’t just a change to lose a few pounds, this is a lifestyle change.
If you have ever taken the time to read the Bible, one thing you may notice is that certain numbers have extreme significance. 40 is one of those numbers. Whenever God wanted to prepare someone for His purposes, he took 40 days.
Noah’s life was transformed by 40 days of rain
Moses was transformed by 40 days on Mt. Sinai
The 12 spies were transformed by 40 days in the Promised Land
Elijah was transformed when God gave him 40 days of strength from a single meal
David was transformed by Goliath’s 40 day challenge
The entire city of Nineveh was transformed when God gave the people 40 days to change
Jesus was empowered by 40 days in the wilderness
The disciples were transformed by 40 days with Jesus after His resurrection
Yesterday was the beginning of something new for me and I am very excited for these next 40 days. I have decided to undertake a 40 day challenge. I am well aware of the changes I need to make, especially to my eating habits, but it doesn’t stop there. This 40 day challenge isn’t just a 40 day challenge to lose weight. It is just the beginning, something I endeavor to do to see breakthrough in my life. I have decided to use my blog as a outlet to write about my experience, to share what I feel God is saying to me through this 40 day journey and hopefully be an encouragement to others who may come across this.
Let the journey begin!
Cartoons just aren’t the same…
When I was growing up, Saturday morning cartoons were a religion. I can remember watching Woody Woodpecker, Loney Tunes, Thundercats, GI Joe, Transformers and the list goes on and on. The other day I watched an episode of Woody Woodpecker with my four year old and she feel in love with Woody. There isn’t a day that goes by now where she doesn’t forget to ask about watching Woody on my iPad2. It got me thinking, cartoons just aren’t the same anymore. Not that I watch many cartoons today but the ones I have seen, seem to be complicated and they definitely lack humor. What ever happened? For your enjoyment, here are a couple of Woody’s famous moments.
Do you have a favorite Saturday morning cartoon?
Have a great week end everyone!
