I have been giving a lot of thought lately to the importance of family. Now let’s face it, no family is perfect but family is what helps shape the men and women we become. At the age of ten weeks I was adopted into a family who already had two girls and growing up had its challenges. Although my parents told me at a young age I was adopted, I believe there was a disconnect to some degree. My parents were very loving and gave us everything we needed, especially love. In my teen years I had my fair share of struggles which carry into my young adult life but I can remember my parents always telling me, “Sean, there is nothing you can do which will make us stop loving you.” Powerful words that I can still hear today. Today, many kilometers separate my family and I and my mother passed away three years ago but as I look back and reflect, my mom and dad along with my two sisters have helped shape me to become the man I am today.
